THE GIVING TREE

This piece is a little prayer-poetry Ms. Bobbie wrote in 1993 for the children's rosary at St. Rita's Parish (Harahan, LA) and which he gave to me to set to music. Very fortunately, I was inspired to come up with this ragtime beat which I thought suited the melody I've created for it.

Now there's a tree
Called the giving tree
And that tree is you
And that tree is me.

And so we all
Must learn to be
Giving and sharing
Just like that tree.

And like our Lord
He paid the price
Like that great tree
He gave His life.

And like that tree
We learn to give
And like the Lord Jesus
We learn to live.
